Hi Brad and Brad,
Thank you so much for the shoutout on the Rearviewmirror episode! The commonality in my name has always been a blessing and a curse. I've never had someone ask me if they were pronouncing my name correctly (pro), however there has definitely been a lot of confusion over which Chris someone is trying to get a hold of especially when I worked at a supermarket (Hy-Vee) in high school (con).
I think it was almost two years ago when I wrote you guys about my opinions to Rearviewmirror. At that time the song took on a meaning for me that was putting a tragic event that happened to my wife behind and finally looking forward to our new normal. Something I thought about last night was how for each of the past 3 years now, I have had a significant event happen where I was trying to navigate through the reality of a new normal on the horizon. This year I share that burden with millions of others as we continue to try to brace ourselves for the new normal after the pandemic. It's been difficult gathering speed from the coronavirus fucking with all of us. Everytime I start to believe I can stop dwelling on all of the tragedy resulting from COVID-19, I find myself stuck in quicksand again. To me Rearviewmirror is a song of celebration that one has finally broken free from despair and is able to live in their new normal. We have all been "forced to endure, what we could not forgive." I am anxious and hopeful the "shades can finally be raised" in the next several months.
Forced to endure, what I could not forgive,
Chris
