Hi Brad and Brad,
I am a new listener who
is just about to begin Season 1, Episode 3. Last night I just happened
to search iTunes for a podcast about Pearl Jam and luckily your show
came up. I had a chance to listen to Episode 1 on the way to work this
morning and then decided to take a walk in the middle of the work day to
begin Episode 2, which I then finished on the car ride home. Your
episode on Ten really energized me and made me remember just how
incredible I felt that album was when I first started listening to it.
Hearing you guys go down track-by-track and dissect the album made me
appreciate it all over again. Thank you for that. I am looking forward
to getting caught up, which may take a while given you are at Season 2,
Episode 52 now.
Your podcast comes at an
important time for me right now. This year has been really tough. My
wife, who's only 33, suffered a pretty massive stroke back in January.
She was hospitalized for almost 2 months and is still recovering from
the effects of it. I've had a tough time seeing her through the
recovery. She has recovered pretty miraculously and also needed a
second surgery in May to prevent another similar type of stroke from
happening again. Still, her speech is not where it once was and there
are some changes in her attitude that I am trying to adjust to. In some
ways it's like getting to know someone over again.
Through
most of this stretch of my life, I found myself diving back into the
grunge bands. Mainly Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. For
some reason I didn't find myself diving back into Pearl Jam, whom I've
always considered my favorite. One of the more calming things for me is
when they perform live and Eddie interacts with the crowd. As powerful
as his voice is when he is wailing on one of their tracks, just his
normal tone in conversation resonates with me. He makes you feel at
home when he talks to you in the crowd. He makes you feel like he's
relating to you in some way. Sometimes I'll put on a bootleg or find a
concert on YouTube just so I can get that calm in my life from
time-to-time.
I'm very glad I found you
guys and am excited to get caught up through the episodes you have
available to listen to. It's very nice to hear two guys talking about
my favorite band with such enthusiasm and insight.
Regards,
